First off, when traveling with a child you need a great Diaper Bag, one that isn't going to fall apart on you. Always Keep a stroller with you. My personal favorite is GRACO Travel System which is great for newborns. The car-seat can be mounted onto the stroller if you need to avoid awakening a sleeping newborn. The stroller comes complete with 2 cup holders and a center space for other small items such as car keys or your camera. Underneath the stroller a great storage basket for the diaper bag or for your purse and a place to carry any other Items you may gather. Folds up for easy storage in any closet and will fit in most trunk compartments of vehicles. It's been a personal lifesaver in my opinion.
