Essays: Racism

thought should not be so large. It is actually the masses of different reasons consumed by similar conclusions.

A friend of mine with a college degree in marketing has found a niche with a security company. He trains both the company's employees, and the employees of other companies that pay to have their employees certified. When he told me one of the courses is on race relations, I asked him to read something I wrote on the topic. Here it is:

Racism is what it is.
An ethnic or pigmentation prejudice, it is.
Can it harm us?
I believe so.
So, what can we individually do?
My thought is to reject it.

I cannot control others' thoughts,
so I try only to influence.

Knots are what it creates.
Is that so unclear?
Little children are the key.
Little children for they will,
I pray,
Not carry racism into the next generation.
God, I pray for that.

Unless they see it though, I
see it never ending.
Period.

So, how is that done?
Toss out racist thoughts.
Open up your mind.
People are people, not their races.

If we all work harmoniously in concert, then,
together, we will bring its end.

Not tomorrow. We can do this today.
Oh, yes, we can do this today.
We only need to add our own
exclamation points.

After he read it, I asked him if he could tell me what it says in two sentences. He tried, but he did not see it. I told him if he looked at the different angles of the words, he might notice it. He offered some explanations based on double entendre', but he still did not see it. When I pointed it out to him, he was a bit embarrassed for not having seen it. I assured him that he was not alone. I showed it proudly to many people after I wrote it. At that point, nobody had been able to tell me what it said in two sentences without hints.

Racism exists. If it is to die, it will be a death by attrition. Little children are the key. Little children for they will, I pray, not carry racism into the next generation. Unless they see it, though, I see it never ending. Period.

Racism is killing us. Stop it now!
