Impressing an interviewer

Thank you. It is a powerful phrase that doesn't cost anything to say but can mean a world of difference when looking for a job. While we may remember to say that phrase many times during our interviews, we may forget to send it in writing afterwards. Thank you letters are what will get you the job. If you don't send one, you might as well keep looking.

When you're back home after a job interview, while the interview is still fresh in your head, you should immediately write your thank you letter to your interviewer and mail it the following morning. This will tell your potential employer you are seriously interested in working for that company. Plus, when your interviewer needs to recall who is most qualified for the position, this will help jog their memory to remember you are most qualified for the position.

As always, about.com has some great advice for thank you letters. However the general gist of a thank you letter is to remind them of your interview and perhaps expand on a few things you forgot to mention during the interview. Also feel free to remind them of your enthusiasm for having the opportunity to even be considered to be working at their company.
