My husband is currently in his second year of his service to the Army. We are constantly struggling with out money issues. It has come to my attention that people for some reason see the military as a great source of income. Sadly though it is not.
There are bills that we must pay( our credit cards, electricity, water) and when they are paid, there is almost nothing left. We have attempted on many cases to cut our spending, but there are no solutions. We try to not use credit, but some months its the only thing that gets us through. I am unable to work, for if I did it would be to pay for daycare. I see no sense in that. I remember hearing on the news that Senator Hilary Clinton wanted to cut military pay. It raises a question in my mind of if we are already in debt then how could she possibly want us even more up to our necks. Its embarrassing to think that the only time we can save money is when he is deployed. I'm not sure that many people realize just how little our men get paid.
At an E-3 position, married with one child, living in Killeen, Texas, my husband makes $3.33 an hour. A little over 70 dollars a day, seeing as he is paid for a 24 hour shift.
Makes me think how much we appreciate our soldiers. How much we want our country safe.
