My dog has fleas!

We missed it first time round we thought it was him rolling in the bark chippings again. Then the flea crawled across my daughters hand. Poor little mutt his feet did not touch the ground before he was in a bath doused liberally with flea shampoo.

We then set off to Pets Home to buy the 'flea stuff' a comb, flea tablets, flea collar, flea spray, 36 pounds lighter in pocket we came home.

The comb revealed the shampoo had not touched the surface at all. He was still flea ridden.Johnsons 4 fleas recommended to give him one tablet ( kills fleas on pets in 24 hours), which we did and 7 hours later they crawled to the surface, so we combed and drowned all fleas. They hinted this was the end of the problem.

Sooooooooooooo, my daughter hoovered everything, sprayed everything and washed everything. If it did not move in our house it was de fleaed!

Then I got bitten. Checking him the following day yet more fleas, so another tablet, another set of fleas crawling to the surface for humane drowning. We did this for 4 days and yet still more fleas.

So Salisbury's this time for Spot On. One dose 3 months cover. The first flea appeared again less than 24 hours later!

A visit to the vets and what did we learn,

Buying stuff over the counter is a complete waste of money it does not work, not the tablets, not the spot on, not the shampoo, not even the spray!

Now we are in possession of the veterinary stuff, spray and one step, but we also in possession of one vital bit of information:-

We have a cat .................. she is the one responsible for giving my dog the fleas and NOWHERE on any of the shop bought products was this mentioned, we would have been treating him forever.

The moral of this story, go straight to the vet with the fleas, do not waste your money like us.

Am just off to the vets with the cat so this story is to be continued.
