Gamers are individuals who play anything from card games, dice games, hand held games, game consoles for television, to computer games. An individual who has an addiction plays most or all of these. Gaming addiction can be a problem with someone when it consumes their everyday life. Just like any other addiction, it causes conflict with family, friends, work, income, and true happiness.

Lifestyles of these individuals can vary and are rarely stable. They could be still living at home with parents after they graduate high school. If living on their own, they have roommates. Most have no ambition to work more than a part-time job. Some may have a career, but are playing games while on the job and full time while off the clock. If they have a career, it is usually a degree in some type of gaming, computers, or graphics. It is actually good for them to assert their skills in their profession.

Many gamers never seem to have money to pay rent or bills. They resort to using credit cards and loans to pay bills and buy new gaming equipment or games. Then, they have debt and are unable to pay. In the end, they cannot get approved for anything and have to find people to co-sign even for an apartment.

Majority have no solid relationships with partners. They spend hours and even days in front of their games. Dungeons and Dragons and Magic can be played all night long. They are more focused on the game strategies than asking their partner if they need anything. They become committed to the game, not their partner.

To further express, some gamers not only have ignored their spouses, but children as well. There have been deaths resulting in such neglect. An stove gets left on, and three units in an apartment building go up in flames. When both parents who are gamers, have a hard time with children. They play their games until the sun rises when their little ones are just waking. Children have fallen down stairs, eaten deadly items thinking they were food, and much more.

Behavior Characteristics noticed in gamers can have many results. They begin disassociating themselves from the general public. Some stay indoors all day. Some have quite an odor from not bathing even. Some start judging something or someone with no prior experience or knowledge. They have sudden fits of paranoia, and become quite defensive.

Others may have a prolonged delay of responses during conversations. They are unable to focus or pay attention to anything that is not game related.
