That's all we need....More Government in our affairs. We're all ready billions in debt. We don't need the government to crank out more money to foot the bill for election campaigns.

One of our greatest freedoms is the freedom to vote. If the public would get behind the man of their choice and contribute to his campaign, it would help remove the financial burden he carries. In the last presidential campaign I volunteered my time to call people and remind them to vote. By being involved, I felt connected to the candidate and proud to be a part of the efforts to get him elected.

If the government did help fund election campaigns it would have to be an equal amount for each individual running, regardless if the candidate was Republican, Democrat, independent, or some unknown wacko who dreamed of being president.

It sounds tempting to allow the government help foot the bill. However, would people get as involved with the campaign? Would there be the same dedication and unity among the volunteers? Or would the attitude of "let George do it," creep in.

Things are messy enough when it comes to our nation's election campaigns. Let's not muddy up the waters with another player.
