Crisp leaves, autumn air. Busybody students clad in jeans, sweaters, and scarves carrying backpacks overflowing with brand new supplies. April slowly walked down the brick path on the college campus venturing in her thoughts of a fresh start this year. This was her first time far away from home, and she was all by herself. She's always dreamed of this moment, being out on her own; an independent daredevil. The thought of nobody knowing your past and your personality was overwhelming. She could become a whole new person here at Holsey Academy. But now, she wasn't so sure of herself. What if nobody had the courage, or interest, to come up to her and strike up a conversation. She went from being everything at Lakes High, to nothing here at Holsey. What a difference three hours away from home could make. April was so used to being surrounded by crowds of people that she felt terribly lonely walking here by her lonesome. She continued to ponder about her new life and eventually arrived at her English class. She sat down at the nearest seat and pulled out her artsy binder. Suddenly she was tapped on the shoulder, "Hey". April turned around and laid her eyes upon a beautiful girl with long, long chocolate brown hair and enormous green eyes lined with a tremendous amount of eyeliner.
"Uh, hey," April responded awkwardly, her mind suddenly went blank.
"I really like your blazer, and I was wondering where you got it."
"Oh, um, Lucky Jeans. It was on sale I think."
"Cool, I'll have to check it out sometime. By the way, my name is Kayla, maybe we can hang out sometime. I think we both could use a few friends around here," the girl said as a wide smile spread across her face revealing two neat rows of movie-star-white teeth.
"Definitely, that'd be cool my dorm number's 526, you can stop by anytime. Oh, and I almost forgot, my name's April"
"Sounds great April," Kayla said and then April turned around trying to focus on what the English teacher was saying.
Suddenly she didn't feel so lonely anymore.
