What is a Onesie? If you have to ask this question you obviously don't have children! Onesies are the greatest baby clothing accessory ever invented. They are all-purpose, durable, cheap and all-occasion infant and toddler clothing. A must have for every parent with young children.

Onesies are a bodysuit style piece of clothing with snaps at the crotch. They have a size range of newborn to 2T and come in short sleeves and long sleeves. They have every color and pattern imaginable, some are even have an embroidered or silk-screened design for boys and girls. With the strategically placed snaps at the crotch diaper changing is a "snap", the quick and easy access allows for an easy fix to a potentially messy situation. I have even encountered a Velcro crotch, which I do not recommend. It tends to rub on the baby's legs and isn't very secure if you have a crawling or highly active child. The Velcro also makes it to easy for the little one to undress themselves and pull their diapers off. The snap-crotched Onesies are extremely durable.

Besides the convenience of the Onesie, it is also extremely versatile. In the summertime it's easy to just let the kids run around in them, to prevent them from cruising around in just their diapers. It's also great for sleepwear in a hot climate by preventing the baby from getting too hot. In the wintertime they make a great undershirt for overalls or a jumpsuit. You can use them as an accessory for a pants and jacket outfit or under a skirt.

The Onesie is also one of the cheapest pieces of baby clothes you can buy. It's best to buy them in packages of five or ten (if buying new) and you shouldn't have to spend more than five to ten dollars. Other great places to look for Onesies are at the Goodwill (or a store like it), baby consignment stores or at garage sales. You can usually pick them up for pennies! If you are really lucky, you can find unopened packages and pick them up for cheaper than in a retail store. If you are looking for a great and inexpensive baby shower gift, this is the item for you! A parent can't ever have too many Onesies!
