"The Cross" Tina and Tommy Ray.....
Tina was mentally going over her finances as she was driving into town. This vacation along the coast was her idea, Tommy took a lot of convincing. "We just can't afford it this year, Tina."
"We will never be able to afford it. Every time I save for a vacation something comes up to take the money. I will budget everything and it doesn't have to cost a lot if we don't stay in fancy motels or eat at expensive restaurants."

Tommy had heard this story before, every time it isn't suppose to cost a lot, red flags go up! Feeling a bit guilty as he thought about spending their last vacation fund on his hunting trip, he gave in.
"Here's the deal, Tina, all those cute tourist trap shops are off limits. Not even window shopping is allowed! We both know you just can't go in one with out buying something. Agreed?"
Tommy knew Tina too well. "I want to at least buy one souvenir, Tommy! You can set the dollar amount."
I know what's coming next, 'Well Tommy, I have to go in all the shops to find that special keepsake within the budget!' No Tina, we will find that perfect little treasure on the beach at zero cost. That's final."
Pouting just a little, Tina gave Tommy a big hug and started to laugh! All she really wanted was to go on an adventure with the love of her life. Just the two of them.

"Hey what about that motel? It looks old and quaint. I bet it is reasonable."
As they stopped out front a little old lady and little old man were sitting on the porch soaking up the cool evening breeze. Earl and Mert watched the young couple walk up. Earl commented about the Ford Pinto they were driving, there was not a lot of money these two could spare.
Tommy put on his grandson smile, My wife and I would like a room for the night. How much would your least expensive one be?"
Earl winked at Mert and said, " Son, you realize these are all ocean view rooms and it's a sunny week-end, so they will fill up fast at a premium price."
Instantly Tommy's hopes faded but he asked the cost anyway.
Earl was going to have a little fun with this. "Actually, Mert, isn't that old cabin on the beach vacant?" Mert just smiled knowing what her old sweetheart was up to. Earl didn't wait for an answer. He made a gesture towards the beach and told them if they stayed two nights he would give it to them for $50.00 per night.
Tommy felt lucky but Tina had her reservations. "Could we please see it first?" Tina asked.
Keys in one hand and Tina's hand in the other they walked down to the cabin.
