How to vary your pilates workout

Variety prevents boredom, therefore, it is important to add variety to our workouts.

One of the many reasons I enjoy doing Pilates is the ease of adding variety to my workouts. No one wants to do the same workout all the time that gets boring.

Since Pilates are a method of working out, you can do virtually any form of exercise using the Pilates method after you learn the basics. Adding variety to our workouts will ensure that we continue to challenge our muscles while preventing workout boredom.

Pilates Circle:

The circle enhances Pilates moves while also helping to incorporate other muscle groups into the moves.

Many times, you can get a video workout with the purchase of a Pilates circle. It is best to learn how to use the circle by using the video.

Fitness Ball:

By adding a fitness ball to your Pilates routine, you can add variety to your workout. It is best to get a video that teaches Pilates moves with a fitness ball in order to learn how to incorporate the ball into your workout routine.

I love using my fitness ball it really helps to concentrate on the abdominals because you have to hold them in to keep your balance. There are a variety of moves that can be done using the fitness ball, however, you should begin with a fitness ball workout in order to get used to using the ball and keeping your balance on the ball.

Pilates Instruction Books/Online Resources:

Once you have begun doing Pilates and feel comfortable with the moves and proper form you can greatly enhance your workout by learning new moves from Instructional Books. It is important to buy books that give in-depth instructions along with detailed illustrations.

Online resources are another way in which to add variety to your Pilates routine. By searching online, you can learn new routines along with new Pilates moves that you can incorporate into your own routine.

Videos/DVDs:

If you enjoy doing your workouts with a video or a DVD, you can add variety to your workout time by purchasing videos by different instructors. Many fitness instructors have Pilates videos on the market therefore, we have many choices all of which will add variety thus preventing workout boredom.

My Preference:

Personally, I prefer to add variety to my workouts by using the fitness ball, a variety of videos by different instructors along with any information I can glean from books and the internet.

It is very helpful to make up my own Pilates routines using all information that is available from various resources.

Variety prevents boredom, therefore, it is important to have a variety of routines along with a variety of information by which to expand and change routines often.
