I'm pretty old and yet I have never seen pornography. My friend who works in the mental health profession in San Francisco told me that the majority of women she talks to, about their experiences hooking, say it's a rough, dirty, demeaning business. Not glamorous. The customers demand truly disgusting acts of sex...Part of their need for power over someone weaker than they. Whoopee! Can't you just steal candy from a baby?
What fascinates me, and the reason I wanted to address this article title was because if you look at the "either or of it", both of the options stated demean and trivialize the dignity and value of the female experience. Either we are supposed to be used for sex objects like we're plumbers or something, or we are supposed to be subjected to ridicule for being sensitive and nurturing. It's not fair to expect to work it both ways gentlemen...Taking advantage of the young, the kind-hearted,and/or the vulnerable is not OK. When you truly love your daughters, you may not be so cavalier!
I personally do not like having sex with strangers...so that puts me out of the league right there. I need to be emotionally involved with a man (I'm a straight woman, let's clear that up right now shall we?) before I even want to become sexual. If my boyfriend wants to watch kinky stuff, I really don't care, but my role in life is not to be as weird as possible for him! I believe men do want to be with women they respect and trust.
What constitutes a "chick flick"? The expression of emotion? Wouldn't that include most works of opera, the symphony, or literature? Oops, I forgot no reading allowed, just feeling... Is it a goal to be as shallow and devoid of emotion as possible? Should I want to think about sex in a more manly way, to become homogenized to the low standards of our media? Love the rap! Isn't that junk dummying down our society to sluts and pimps? Garbage in, garbage out...There is money in selling sex, always has been. It's not freedom, it's as old as the hills, it's slavery to a false idol.
I have a desire. I desire to live in a world where people are respected for their differences, and not brainwashed into thinking if they have sex with some creep, its empowering. I've been obsessing about Helium.Com, other than that, it's pretty calm.
