Choosing between being clever or being good-looking

This group is so wonderfully rich with playful banter I doubt anyone would whole heartedly answer looks.

What makes me turn my head is someone respectful, humble, and smart which in this case equals clever.

It isn't the "nice guy" that it sounds like it is describing at all. I find that "quirky" is perhaps another description to this type of "clever. Being clever is a skill someone hones over time. To be clever not at someone else's expense is even harder- thus the respectful. To be clever but not come across as a know-it-all or arrogant is a challenge as well, therefore the humble. Smart goes without much explanation to be able to pull off the previous two. It is like finding a comedian that doesn't tell dirty jokes- it takes real talent to find interest in the otherwise mundane.

How do looks play in? I find the most attractive people have side smirks as opposed to smiles, or glances rather than gazes. Does this make them good looking? Not necessarily, but very, very attractive indeed. It implies an inner dialog wriggling to escape and be shared with you, but in the beginning stages- like a discovery being revealed for the first time. It draws me in wanting to hear what they have to say, but more importantly perhaps, is the challenge of getting them to share whatever it is with ME. After all, isn't that what we all look for in everything in life- a challenge?
