Apparently I am one of the few parents who thinks the teens should pay for their own insurance. Owning and driving a car is not a right, it is a privilege. In my house privileges must be earned. We have a child turning 15 this year, which means he will be wanting to drive soon. He knows that he has to earn it, he won't just automatically get to drive. I had to pay for my own insurance, and I don't see why he can't. Quite frankly, if they aren't responsible enough to get a job and earn the money, then they aren't responsible enough to drive a car. Teen drivers cause the most accidents, because most of them are not responsible enough to be behind the wheel. Not driving right when they turn 16 won't kill them. It might even save their life.
