At first glance I like many other readers began to immediately dismiss this study as a large work of fiction. But if we take time and consider today's world, this could very well be a work of truth.
Consider this strange but honest truth, today's teens are exposed to an considerably larger amount of sexually explicit material, than teens of 50, 40, or even a mere 20 years ago. Does this predestine our children to have sex at an earlier age, I believe not. If anything these racy commercials and videos prompt conversation about a still taboo topic in many of todays homes.
Our children are growing bigger and stronger than ever before, so are their bodies just getting bigger, or could they possibly be getting smarter faster as well? So instead of having sex at an earlier age many of our teens, and preteens are making a more adult decision than their predecessors, and abstaining from sex.
Yes, our society has done an excellent job of communicating abstinence to the youth of today, but the effort would never stand a chance of competing against the seemingly insurmountable naked women frolicking on white sandy beaches, or scantly clad men trying to sell cologne in your daily newspaper.
Yes it may seem far-fetched, but then again don't our children deserve some credit. I'm sure they are smarter than you were at that age.
