Poetry: Villanelles

The Villain "L"

Things in this body are not exactly what they seem.
I am intolerant to lactose, that invisible dairy foe.
All I can think about is my desire to eat ice cream.

I used to have a large glass of milk after every dream.
Now, after a large glass of milk, my insides shout, "No!"
Things in this body are not exactly what they seem.

As a child, I liked to wait for the ice cream truck's theme,
And race out to the curb, my quarters and dimes in tow.
All I can think about is my desire to eat ice cream.

The danger of dairy is higha bite makes my colon scream.
I'm sure that this tidbit was more than you care to know.
Things in this body are not exactly what they seem.

Since the advent of Lactaid, I've found a new means.
My love for all things dairy has not begun to slow:
All I can think about is my desire to eat ice cream.

Perhaps an agriculturist could employ a simple scheme:
Make a lactose-free cow. He would be a noble hero.
Things in this body are not exactly what they seem.
All I can think about is my desire to eat ice cream.

    Although some would certainly disagree.

The creature was covered with blue bamboo.
