First of all, I'm usually in favour of parents teaching their children about most things in life. On this topic I'm feeling a little less sure. Being a straight man (I don't mean a comic's sidekick by the way) I'm okay with school teaching about the birds and the bees. Although I don't know how teaching children about the birds and the bees is going to understand homosexuality.

In order to teach a subject it is important to understand it well enough to explain it, right? The problem is; I don't understand homosexuality and I don't really want to learn too much more about it. I'm fine with my own sexuality leaning towards the opposite sex. Am I being a bigot here, I don't think so? Learning and teaching about homosexuality just isn't my cup of tea,' in fact I'm not even comfortable watching those wildlife videos of monkeys having a go at it.

So finally let me say on this sensitive and somewhat controversial subject that I am willing to wipe my hands of it. I'm not liberated enough to enjoy the mental image of two gentlemen enjoying the pleasure of each other's company, that much. Let the school tackle this one, and I'll keep paying my taxes to support them.

If consenting adults want to play around with the same toys, I don't have a problem with it, honestly, but I don't want to have to draw pictures for the kids. They don't even have to debate whether it's right or wrong, just the facts plain and simple. Can't the teacher just show a video and have a Q and A session afterwards. "Go ahead Miss Truffle, just hit the play button, thank you."
