LOCATION IS EVERYTHING!
Would you choose to live in a house on any old street, in any old suburb? The same amount of thought and consideration that you give to creating the right fit for your family needs to be given to creating the right fit for your business and I can assure you location is everything!
THE VALUE OF CLUSTERING
For starters, consider the McDonald's chain of stores and other similar businesses. Have you noticed that takeaway food shops tend to build their premises within a close radius of each other? This is intentional! They know that if you are located close to your competitors there is more likelihood of picking up extra sales by offering customer's choice you may snag some of your competitor's customers.
THE VALUE OF VISUAL PRESENCE
Have you noticed that they place themselves on major roads that are easily accessible, often next to shopping centers? They are intentionally positioning themselves to be convenient to their customers. They recognize that the customer's needs are their highest motivation because if they can meet their needs that transforms into dollars in the doors.
THE VALUE OF CLEAR BRANDING
Not only is visual placement important, but also the use of signage that attracts attention and is brand focused. McDonald's golden arches are famous throughout the world and a brand icon. Strong branding in the way of large clear signage is a close second to the location.
THE VALUE OF CONVENIENCE
When you are considering a property, place yourself in the shoes of your customer. Can they park easily? Are you easily accessible? Are you local to them? You may have the greatest shop in the world but if I have to drive miles to get to you, I'm less likely to impulse buy at your shop. Is the shop design and layout maximizing the opportunities for a sale?
In summary, when considering the location of your business consider your customers. If they can find you easily, get in your front door without too much effort, be reassured that you offer the best deal, and then you are halfway to making a sale.
The best location for your new business is going to be where your customers will buy from you!
Take the time to look at your competitors and analyze their choices, then research what the available options are.
