Defining the concept of evil

Evil is more than just the opposite of good. Evil is the desire to do something that you know is harmful to another. It is the desire to deprive another of happiness. It is the need to make others feel physical pain. It is a depravity. It is hateful ten times removed.

A person can kill someone and not be evil. But if a person tortures the victim or in any manner maims or injures the victim prior to death to cause deliberate pain, that is evil.

A person can practice the occult and not be evil. But if a person practices the occult with the objective of bringing pain or sorrow to another person it is evil.

A person can be a gossip, and not be evil. But if a person spreads malicious untruths about another person and then perpetrates deeds to make their lies appear reality. To intentionally cause harm to another person's physical being or their credibility that is evil. A malicious gossip is evil. There intent is to cause harm. Does not the Bible say a lying tongue and a froward mouth are an abomination unto the Lord?

Evil is the conscious choice to do something that it hurtful to others. Not in the sense of pranks. Evil is a mental phenomenon. An Evil person gets joy from causing pain and destruction the way the average person gets joy from a sunshiny day or spending time with friends or family. Evil is more than a choice. It is a need. The evil person feels the need to commit vile acts to achieve satisfaction.

If the Bible be believed, then the above theory works. Satan, the prince of evil, is destined for all eternity to commit acts of evil. What can be more vile than luring souls to eternal damnation? Lucifer was rejected by God because of his "mutiny". But the seed was there. He had no reason to do what he did. It was not as if God had done something to him and he was trying to get back at God. He is by nature an evil one. He wanted to hurt/destroy God. At the very least tarnish His image among the angels. He tried to spread his evil in heaven and when he was banished; he brought it here to earth: where he is destined to eternally tempt and bring down mankind by instilling the seeds of evil in whomever he can, whenever he can, wherever he can.
