Putting the 'Merry' back in 'Merry Christmas'

I am a single mom, five feet, five inches tall, one hundred eighteen pounds. Men tend to find me attractive as I am physically fit and have light brown hair and brown eyes. I am also a successful career woman, became a Vice President at the young age of 26 as a matter of fact, not that I'm bragging. Despite these quality traits, this year happened to be my first Christmas "alone" with my two young girls. I had tried to have a relationship after my divorce it too did not work out. As a result, I had become quite depressed as the holiday season grew closer. I knew I had to make Christmas enjoyable for my oldest daughter she is five, but how was I going to do that when I found myself crying every time I thought about the three of us being alone? I had the "Poor Me" syndrome going on big time "Once my kids were in bed Christmas Eve there would be no one to play Santa with, no one to cuddle in bed with, no one to share the joy of seeing the smile on my oldest child's face when she entered the living room Christmas morning ..." Well, during this ridiculous phase of depression and self pity, I was clearly forgetting what Christmas is all about.

About one week before Christmas I finally decided that I had to bring the kids to pick out a Christmas tree. I was selfishly trying to avoid the holiday when what my children needed was to feel the excitement that only they can feel, knowing Santa will be coming soon with presents for them. Sunday morning I got my girls dressed for church. I told my oldest that after mass we would go to the Christmas tree farm to pick out our tree. I did warn that we would have to get a smaller tree this year though I figured it would be easiest to get a "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree" since I was going to be putting it up by myself. You ask why I didn't at least invite a friend over to join in this adventure? Well, to me this was about family, and if I had to celebrate Christmas as a single mom then I was going to show my girls that we could do it alone and have fun in the process I guess it was my stubborn, energetic side finally coming out.

Well, prior to my last ugly break up, I had once again done the nave, "Give Your Lover Everything" routine he wanted a car so that he could more easily make the 40 minute commute to spend time with the three of us. My divorce had left me with very little mainly debt, spousal support payments, and child support payments. Figuring that true love was worth it and I would eventually
