Should employers be held to higher standards in their treatment of employees

by Marrid

Yes, employers should be held to higher standards in their treatment of their employees. I used to work at a movie store. The manager was just rude. He had a bad attitude. He was nice to me and everything, but the treatment he would give me was terrible. I was the hardest worker there. I was basically running the place when we only had a few other employees. He would leave me at the movie store by myself at night while he rode the time clock. On my days off or day off he would call me to come in saying he was sick. At one point towards the end before I quit, I was only having one day off. Working six days a week one night I would have to close and wouldn't get out until 1 a.m. and then the next I would have to wake up around 8:30 a.m. to go back to work. It was a never ending cycle. Then, the straw that really broke the camels back they hired this new GUY. They paid him the same as me when I had been promoted a few times. I had to work for where I had got. They started me at 5.15 an hour then gradually moved me up to 6.50 an hour. He had just walked through the doors and was making 6.50 an hour, then at that he was a lazy bastard. He had lost the store key the second day there. I had seen it around his neck, then when I told the manager and when the manager asked him about it he said he didn't have it.
