I have heard it said that necessity is the mother of invention, and so it was for my family. After having several years of health problems in our family, The women in this multi-generational household decided that we would no longer be able to work outside the home. This was the beginning of a roller coaster ride of unsuccessful business ventures for us. That is until we came across freelancing and the many helpful sites on the Internet.

Once we stumbled across these freelancing sites on the Internet, we found a few that we fit into well, and began a very profitable venture. Giving the younger generation the flexibility that they needed to be able raise their family and care for a sick child. While giving me the chance to be the caregiver I needed to be for my husband.

We found many sites that you pay a membership to and then bid on the available assignments, much like you would bid on ebay. The Buyer then accepts the bid that is the best fit for them based on price, skills and abilities. These sites also have a rating system that allows others to see your quality of service, based on what the buyers say about you the provider.

We also found a few free sites that charge the providers nothing. But they tend to have limited bidding opportunities. The jobs on these sites have more bids on them, making these sites much more competitive. But we have found quite a bit of work from these sites as well.

Once we found a place to fit in we started a very small family owned and operated family business that we have found to be quite rewarding. If you are looking for a way to earn a decent living from home, we would encourage you to do your homework and check out the many sites on the Internet for freelancing, find where you fit in, then build yourself a reputation and a nest egg.
