I feel that the heading of this article illustrates one of the biggest problems in our society: the definition of beauty is solely based on physical appearance. I see this article's heading as two distinct sections. One: Sick of Celebrities. Yes, I most definitely am. Two: Will there be a backlash against the beautiful people? Not likely, if we're talking about those that I find beautiful. I know we all have certain tastes and our own ideas of physical attractiveness, but true beauty comes from who a person is, not what they look like. I know it sounds trite and preachy, but it's simply how I feel. In our society we have ridiculous standards of "beauty" that are difficult, if not impossible, for the average person to achieve. Celebrities have the money to hire personal trainers and chefs to ensure that their bodies are red-carpet ready. When magazines have articles entitled "How to Get a Body Like a Star," their first tip should be, "Get rich." Sure, you'll have to work out, but I'm betting that's much easier when you don't have a 9-to-5 job and you do have a personal trainer guiding your every move.
So, no, I do not believe that growing sick of celebrities is causing a backlash against the beautiful people. I think it's causing a backlash against spoiled, shallow, greedy, inconsiderate, arrogant people whose only contribution to society has been showing average people that "stars" don't work half as hard as they do and somehow get to live a life that's far less difficult. I say a backlash against these celebrities is a great thing, and long overdue.
