Major Depression Disorder has always been around. In the past, its devestation wasn't respected. Flawed diagnosis allowed a mental disease to go unchecked. Sufferers endured in shame and silence. A depressed person could go on for weeks without leaving their bed; let alone their house. MDD struck indiscriminately. From children to senior adults, it ravaged a person's confidence, destroyed their self-esteem and eroded their self-worth. Only through research, physicians have identified the indicators of MDD. If you're not a physician, look for these signs and symptoms of depression.
A MDD sufferer can severe mood swings. They can be happy one day and be sad the next day. These switches may last for long periods of time. Manic depression has come out of having severe mood swings.
A MDD sufferer can withdraw themselves from friends and family. An once gregarious person can seek to be alone. Watch out for unreturned phone calls, emails and letters. People going through depression will literally hide out in their home.
A MDD sufferer can experience physical illness. Extreme depression can lead to migraines, high-blood pressure and increased stress. These aliments are potentially debilitating.
A MDD sufferer may give away their possessions. When someone does this, it's a definited cry for help. They are suicidal, perhaps even homicidal. Intervention Friends, family and an experienced counselor should get involved.
Major Depression Disorder is a disease. There are medicines out there to correct chemical imbalances and stave off catastrophic, nervous breakdowns. These medicines can keep someone from destroying their life. However, be proactive and get help for your loved ones before it's too late.
