Parents should definitely lead the way in teaching children about homosexuality, as they are the ones who know their children best and so will know what needs to be explained to their children at different stages.
I think parents should take the responsibility to teach their children about all aspects of sex, this will help them to have a more open and honest relationship. Teenagers need to know that they can go to a parent to discuss anything and parents need to give them the confidence to do this by talking to them about all issues.
It isn't always easy to begin to find the right words to talk about sex but getting through the first talk is the hardest, after that though you may still feel a little embarrassed it becomes easier.
As a parent it is very rewarding when your child comes to you for advice about something as important as sex, it shows how much of a bond you have with your child.
However, I think it's healthy for children to learn about homosexuality in school too, but only when they are about 15 or 16 years old, as parents, whether they intend to or not, will most likely influence how their children feel about homosexuality.
Most parents probably don't know an awful lot about homosexuality, they may have friends or family who are homosexual but still will most likely have a limited knowledge and so be might not be able to answer all questions. In school discussions about homosexuality might be more unbiased and open and teenagers will have more of an opportunity to have their questions answered.
So, though I think that parents should really lead the way in teaching children about homosexuality, there is a need for it to be included in sex education in school too.
