When you think of places for family vacations the first spot that comes to mind probably isn't Virginia Beach. I'd like to see what I can do to change your mind. First of all, get a room a the Holiday Inn Sunspree on Atlantic Ave. A great hotel for families. Rooms ranged between $95.00 and $140.00 (for ocean view), in April when we stayed. With a free breakfast buffet, a KidZone, and three swimming pools, including one with a lazy river and three waterfalls, you can't go wrong. Next make sure you head over to the Virginia Marine Science Museum. I have a 10 year old and an 18 month old, and they both loved it. The 10 year old's favorite part was petting the manta rays and the 18 month old was in awe of the giant sea turtles. In the evening, my 10 year old and I went down the street from the hotel to play 3D mini golf at the Haunted House. No, you do not have to go through the haunted house to play golf. We thought it was pretty cool. Get a good nights sleep so your able to spend the day at the Norfolk Children's Museum. Usually these museums are too young for my 10 year old and too old for my toddler, but this one had it all. Not a huge museum, but what is there is worth the drive to see. Virginia also offers a zoo, Bush Gardens, historic Williamsburg and much more. So you are sure to have a great time. By the way, make sure you eat breakfast at Pocahontas Pancake and Waffle Shop on Atlantic. It was featured on Food Network's best of the best. Once we tried it, we ate there every morning of our trip. Whatever you do enjoy yourselves!
