Teaching children about atheism

Atheistic Scripture

As a child i have rather fond memories of Christian scripture classes. It was something we did at school in order to learn about how we were all sinful beings and that we were destined a life of damnation, fantastic food for thought for a ten year old. Christianity was the only belief i was brought up wit in school and because an adult was telling it to me i assumed it to be right. One day however, i asked the teacher of the class, "what about the kids who go to the Muslim class?", surely they also believe in god. The teacher proceeded to tell me that all the kids in that class were destined to the fiery pits of hell. Surely my friend Ahmed wasn't going, he was a good kid, alas he to was a shameful sinner on his way to down under. It was at that moment i saw that this "religion" was nothing more than a craft for distributing hate to the masses. It was later that i realized that it wasn't only Christianity "classes" but also the Muslim classes and all the rest. Surely there must have been a class for us blaspheming heathens to go to. I asked my school teacher what of his mythical class, alas, the closest our school had was a "non-scripture" class. A small squalid room that the heathens went to while the others received "enlightenment". "It couldn't be that bad" i said to myself in blissful and confident soliloquy. It was bad - really bad. We sat for an hour solving math problems while the other kids danced to what ever tunes the pastor or sheik brought to them. No wonder so many kids were easily tricked into the guise of religion. However, i stuck through the "non-scripture" classes, finally glad with my departure to high school.

You may be asking yourself, what has this story to do with atheism and children. I can tell you, it has a lot to do. It is in my opinion and my colleagues opinion that an option for atheism classes should be made mandatory where religion is taught at schools. I am not going to say that i think that all religious individuals are blind close minded fools that are being tricked on a daily basis, however, i will say that even a young child's logic could easily see the faults and ulterior movies of religion, namely to spread hae and discrimination in abundance to the masses.
