I think that it is totally wrong for a parent to compete with other parents child/ren, i mean going out to buy your child the latest gear or buying them the latest toy around i don't see the point in it.
Why go out and buy clothes that cost about $100 for nice looking set its just ridiculous how parents do things like this just to make sure their child/ren are up to speed with everybody or better than everybody.
It really doesn't teach them much either because when they get older who is going to get all those things they used to get when they were younger, how are they meant to learn when they get older to stand on their own two feet.
Some parents can get to extreme when competing with other parents child/ren and in the end it just makes a relationship between the child and the parent bad, when you as the parent go broke what happens then, you wouldn't get the same amount of money back when you brought that $100 piece you would probably get back just under half of what you paid, so in the end it's not worth going out there buying all these things when they are not going to be in the child's like forever.
