MEMORIES

Trapped. Scared. Confused.
The walls are closing in.
Hurry mind - drift away,
Before daddy's "play" begins.
"Make your own music,
sing your own song
And, soon the whole world
Will be signing along."
Again and again the child reads
This safe poster on the wall,
Concentrating long and hard
To keep her mind off daddy's call.
The wait seems forever,
Daddy's love is strong.
But, even as a child, she knows -
Something feels too wrong.
Hate, fury, love, confusion
Is what the girl has felt.
There's a fire that burns inside her heart
When daddy undoes his belt...

Crying in the corner,
Still afraid to move -
Rocks the little girls small body,
Longing to be soothed.
But, no one ever comes.
Her mommy doesn't know -
Or, maybe she does but,
Is too afraid
To tell her husband, "No!"

Since, no one seems to care -
How this little girl must feel.
She hides herself in "normal" -
And strives, to make it real.
For years, she hides her secret,
Brewing wounds so deeply sealed.
Until, one day, when she's older,
In LOVE, she begins to "heal".
