Poetry: Love

Love
For Crystal

We are two seekers searching somewhere
beneath rocks for a clue to unlock
our mysterious secrets and doors
hidden places of the hearts that love

The mantis, when she finds her pleasure, does not go
behind the closed door. No. She eats the head of her
lover-pest, but not before she prays, "There is love."

Who can know the subtle difference
which occurs in a simple instant
when one man gives and another takes,
and there is a witnessed kiss called love'?

It is no big surprise for us that Judas would
run right out and hang himself from the guilt he felt
after only one kiss. He himself knew not love.

We are between sheets of white limestone
compressed and impressed by organic
thoughts of our own invention. We will
not be exhumed by any but love.

I am a seeker somewhere searching for a god
who finds in my innermost parts a sudden sum,
so I can give with my outmost parts such love.
