Chart family trees five ways

Five effective ways to create family trees:

1. Make your own creative tree
Instead of just filling out forms - get creative with your family tree. Construct a tree using photographs, old school papers or other easily accessible items. If you are an artist, draw pictures of your parents or siblings or make a collage. Use your imagination and this family tree will probably be more meaningful than a piece of paper.

2. Pedigree Charts - these charts will start with one person (star with yourself usually) and split into both sides of your parents. These forms can be found for free at www.familysearch.com - here is the link:

http://www.familysearch.org/En g/Search/Rg/frameset_rg.asp?De st=G1&Aid=&Gid=&Lid=&Sid=&Did= &Juris1=&Event=&Year=&Gloss=&S ub=&Tab=&Entry=&Guide=PedChart .ASP

You can download a free printable version and start filling it out. Many other web-sites also have free pedigree forms such as Ancestry.com

3. Family Group Sheet
You can also chart your family tree by completing family groups sheets. This sheets have the parents of a family listed at the top with important dates and information about the couple's children on the form as well. These sheets can also be found on a variety of web-sites for free. You can find them at www.familysearch.com or ancestry.com

4. Roots Web
At roots web you can register and then submit information that will design a family tree for you. Registration is free and the site is supported by Ancestry.com

5. Genealogy.com Tree Maker
Go to the web-site and click on Build Your Family Tree to get started.
