Dog breed: English Bull Terrier

The English Bull Terrier has striking features. Everybody knows an EBT when they see one. They have a long nose and small, squinty eyes - much like a pig! Infact when you translate their name in some countries it translates as 'pig-dog'.

They come in all different colours, however the most common is white and brindle. Most English Bull Terriers have markings too, which makes them all rather unique.

These dogs are quite short and have a muscular build. The average weight of an EBT is between 20-36kg and the average height is between 20-23 inches.

They have a short coat, which is easy to groom. Be warned: if you get a white EBT you will find little white hairs absolutely everywhere!

There is also a Miniature Bull Terrier. These are exactly the same, but about half the size.

If these dogs are given regular exercise they will have rippling muscles and a beautiful physique. If they are not exercised regular they are prone to getting fat.

The English Bull Terrier is an absolutely mad dog! My EBT is 1 and a half years, and I don't get a day off! They are hyperactive, hilarious and will think everything is a game. They are an absolute joy to keep as a pet, although I wouldn't recommend them as a first time pet owner. I would also advise you to prepare yourself if you are planning to get one - you will need a lot of patience.

Once an EBT leaves its puppy stage (about 2-3 years) it starts to calm down and turns into a better family pet. English Bull Terriers love children and will protect them and love them. They are also very tolerant towards children. That being said - you should NEVER leave a child alone with ANY dog.

I defiantly recommend getting an EBT as a pet. Your patience will be repayed in love, cuddles and lots of fun..
