Skateboarding tricks: Learn how to ollie

First, I want to say that in my opinion the best board to use is an Element. They are very lightweight and have the best "pop" action. If you are new to skateboarding, and have a new board, you may notice that the wheels seem slippery. Give it time to adjust to you riding it. After cruising around and all of the thrashing, they will glide better. Each board has a head and a tail. Once you figure out whether you are "regular" , like me, or "goofy", the tail will be used by the foot you pump with, while the other just sits. Most skaters first trick is an Ollie. Simply because it is vital and leads to everything else.

Now, for the Ollie. Place the board directly and horizontally in front of you. Place the non-pumping foot securely in the middle of the board. If you need to, use chalk or something, so that you can mark the areas for guidance. Find your balance and place your other foot near the tail of the board. Don't go too far towards the edge, just enough so you can push down. Slightly lean towards your "tail" foot so that the board is somewhat elevated. In one swift motion, your "resting" foot should slide away from you and should now be closer to the head. Make sure it does not leave the board. There really isn't much to this trick but, try practicing in slow motion, weird I know, but it helps.
