The fact is that after all of the hype and excitement concerning the iPhone, it fails to live up to user's expectations. Within hours of the public release disappointed buyers were criticizing the touch screen, internet speed, and lackluster call quality, just to name a few. To add to this, the phone lacks some basic applications that are common on any other "advanced" phone; the most profound includes the absence of 3G capabilities. The idea of being strapped down to one and only service provider (AT&T) is what ices the cake in making futures a bad investment. This is a great business opportunity for the giant service provider looking for an even greater profit and a terrible one for consumers. Not only can you not port to another provider in the event of inadequate call and data service, but AT&T runs a virtual monopoly on the iPhone service. Just wait a few years (it might even be a few months from now), another company like Motorola or RIM will come out with a competing piece of cellular hardware that's better and more refined than the iPhone. Case in point, consider the iPod vs. Creative's Zen. The iPod has had more hype, costs more, and yet (not surprisingly) delivers less than the Zen. It's to be the same situation with the iPhone, it's futures will be a poor investment. You're much better off looking at something that's going to be coming out in the near future.
