I have THREE favorite dollar discount stores... and I like all three of them for different reasons. I absolutely LOVE a good deal and love to shop, and if I can get good stuff for REALLY cheap, all the better! About the only thing cheaper than our commissary (for groceries and snacks and what not), or our local BX (which for those of you who aren't military, it's like a version of Target!)... is Wal-Mart on SALE DAYS/PRICES. I absolutely HATE Wal-Mart, if I can avoid it, I will. Which is what led me to start using local dollar discount stores. We have three really awesome ones local to me.
First, we have Dollar General... Almost everyone has heard of Dollar General, I think! I LOVE buying little knick-knacks, toilet paper, paper towels, and some of my home decorating stuff there! I also buy a lot of my make-up and haircare stuff there... Yep, no expensive hair products or make-up for me! With five children, I don't think I should waste money on that kind of stuff, when the cheaper stuff works just as good for me! I buy a lot of my jar candles and incense at Dollar General as well, keeps my house smelling LOVELY! I also buy a lot of the kids clothes and whatnot's at Dollar General, since their clearance racks are awesome!
Next, we have Family Dollar... Family Dollar is great for having nice looking and trendier clothing styles, for both adults and kids... and they're pretty cheap.. I can get myself a whole outfit for about $15, that includes shoes! And the kids clothes are cute! Usually a kid's outfit is anywhere from $6 to $10. One of my favorite places to get clothes! Also, they have cute jewelry, so I buy a lot of my "cheapo" jewelry there. Family Dollar also carries some pretty neat home decorating items, and it's pretty varied! I found a really pretty embroidered shower curtain there for $5... along with matching towels and rugs, I spent a total of $20, and my bathroom looks great!
Finally, my all-time favorite Dollar Discount store... Dollar Tree! :) I buy a lot of our snack items, chips, cookies, cereal bars, soda, tea bags, cold cereal, etc... at Dollar Tree. I also buy most of my cleaning supplies there. They have all sorts of cleaning supplies in regular sizes, all for $1 each! You can't go wrong with everything $1! I buy my smaller votive and tealight candles there, picture frames, candle holders, the kid's coloring books and colors there, kid's books, little "trashy" romance novels, notebooks, gel pens, mailing tape, mailing envelopes, stationary, etc, there. Dollar Tree stuff is pretty nice, and it's ALL $1! I also buy body sprays, bubble baths, lotions, etc. there.
I LOVE these three stores, and check each of them out at least once a week! Of course, does it surprise anyone that I also go to thrift shops and yard sales every chance I get? If you have a local dollar discount store near you, it's worth checking out... It might really surprise you, what you can find and buy, for a dollar!
