With the opening of the latest Harry Potter movie, "The Order of the Phoenix," one must agree that humans thrive on the existence of good and evil. Good being God and evil being Satan. God lives in Heaven and Satan lives in Hell.
Or does he? According to the Bible when Satan (previously known as Lucifer, the angel of light) became prideful and envious of God, he and several other angels were tossed out of heaven. The Bible specifically states that, "the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1Peter 5:8)
As a Christian, I believe in the Bible and every single word ever written in it. I don't believe that Hell is just a fictitious place to deter people from carrying out evil acts. However, I do wonder where Hell and Heaven are located. In Genesis when Adam and Eve sinned against God by eating the forbidden fruit, they were tossed out of the Garden of Eden. God placed a Cherubim to guard over this paradise where disease, catastrophes, evil, and death did not exist. Does that make what we now know of life from birth to death to be hell?
Since the fall of man, we have been separated from God. Jesus' sacrifice bridged that gap and through His grace we are promised eternal life. But does this mean that once we accept His gift of salvation, that when we die we are now free to enter into the Garden of Eden once again? Is the Garden of Eden Heaven?
No matter where Heaven or Hell are, one must not fall into the trap of doubting their existence. Satan is the master of lies and if he fools you into thinking that he is not real, then, he could easily steal your soul.
