LIFES LITTLE LESSONS TO KEEP IN A BOX:
Things I have learned through trial and error
As we reach maturity we have experienced much of life's trials and tribulations and, hopefully, have learned something from them. After age 65, there is probably not much we haven't seen or done, and perhaps one or two things of which we have never told anyone.
A quick review of my life and the interesting situations that arose from time to time; recalling the people who made an impression on me, both good and bad; and thinking about the difficult choices that life presents, it occurred to me that there are things we really need to keep uppermost in our minds so that we continue life in as stress free and carefree manner as possible.
Thus, the following are fifteen of the most important lessons I have learned, and the ones which I would strongly suggest become the mantra by which you guide your own life toward peace and harmony with the rest of society.
1. If I ignore a problem long enough, it will become someone else's problem.
2. My mission in life is to be a total screw-up so those around me will appear smart!
3. If the happiest day of your life was your wedding day, your marriage is in big trouble.
4. Adults have children because they need help with housework and cant afford a housekeeper.
5. If you do a favor for someone, never turn it into an obligation.
6. This is not a happy smile; it's the look of a crazy person!
7. I have two speeds, slow and stop. Don't push me!
8. If it makes you feel better about yourself to point out my faults, by all means,
give it a shot.
9. If you try to convince your children how well-behaved you were as a child, they
will wonder just how terrible you really were.
10. Those who judge others harshly are usually hiding something about themselves.
11. If we continue to re-visit the same issues and conflicts, we avoid resolving them. It is better to "get over" them and move on.
12. Things won't seem any brighter tomorrow if we drag our baggage along.
13. I occasionally visit reality so I can really appreciate how much better things are in my own little world.
14. People who ask for your advice don't really want it. They are actually asking for your opinion on their situation. Never offer either.
15. You can never really appreciate the gold mine you're sitting on until you reach menopause!
