There appears to be no benefit to owning an SUV, other than the fact that it makes the driver feel high and mighty, and since there are many other things in the world that can make a person feel mighty, it would certainly be better to eliminate SUVs altogether. They are terribly energy inefficient, and cause unnecessary damage to the environment. Many people feel that they absolutely cannot live without an SUV, but really, what does an SUV add to a person's life? If people realized that SUVs emit so much pollution into the environment, and are in fact, detracting from everyone's quality of life, perhaps they would stop buying them.

If that argument doesn't convince the SUV owners out there, perhaps the cost of owning an SUV will deter them from buying one. The amount of gas needed to fill an SUV is outrageous, and with gas prices as high as they are, with the potential to get worse as the oil supply gets more depleted, wouldn't it be better to spend that money on other things? A hybrid car, for instance?

The world depends on people making responsible choices with their resources. When a person buys an SUV, he affects not only himself, but also the environment around him. The world will be destroyed that much faster if people insist on wasting the few resources that we have left. Thus, people should start looking out for the well-being of the world around them, and stop killing themselves and their environment with unnecessary material goods like SUVs.
