The No Child Left Behind Act is a reform bill created about five years ago to ensure higher quality education for all American children. NCLB is a very ambitious act that requires high standards for teachers, schools, children, and education in general. There are many required assessments for all public school children. There are also tight restrictions concerning "highly qualified" teachers and what guidelines must be met to create "highly qualified" teachers. Money has been offered by the government to help implement this program, but there are many questions concerning the use of the governmental money and the use of the Act itself. Achievement goals are a top priority, but sometimes the loftiness of the Act itself isn't taking the varying degrees of achievers into consideration. It would be very nice to have an ideal score that every single child in America could meet, but it is highly impropable that every school child will be at the same place by the year 2014 (which is the deadline for all students to be proficient).
