Why Ron Santo belongs in the baseball Hall of Fame

There is no debate in this one. Honestly I don't understand why he doesn't get the respect he deserves. He was a great player. His defense was immaculate and his hitting prowess, especially under pressure. One thing that voters do not really appreciate is the difference in times and trends. Santo was not a power hitter, plain and simple, but you don't have to be to be a great player. To be a great player you have to be a good team player, have great defense, a good average and most of all come through in the clutch. Ron Santo is the physical embodiment of these guidelines. I really don't like arguing over who should be in the hall. I am not a voter, nor have I ever played, and I have full faith in the voters who probably have more expertise than me, but cut him a break, there has never been a more underrated player in Major League Baseball history.
