SVO, straight vegetable oil fuel can be used on diesel engine vehicles without any modifications to the engine. Of course, you do not get the oil from the grocery stores. You can start putting up a business of recycling used oil from the restaurants in places where there are plenty of them. Las Vegas, here I come. Hotels, casinos, and restaurants are all over the place. The weather is very conducive to using SVO as fuel for a diesel engine.

The process of producing vegetable oil for fuel seems to be as simple as filtering the used oil collected and heating it up to about 160 degrees Fahrenheit to bring down the viscosity of the oil to a level similar to petro-diesel fuel.

There could be problems using the fuel during the winter but you can always switch to another diesel fuel suitable for winter time. Remember that it is an unmodified diesel engine vehicle where the straight vegetable oil fuel is being used.
