Peace on earth is not only realistically attainable, it is, moreover, probable. At this stage in history, we may not be able to fathom this, unless we use our imaginations, which is just what John Lennon suggested when he came out with his album, Imagine, and his famous song. I will then base my argument on evolution. If that off-puts you, progress of humanity, then.
Yes, we have had wars, and still wars rage. Yes, we have crime, poverty, starvation, and oppression. We also have democracy, a higher standard of living, better medicine, ever increasing technology, better information and more of it, better communication and more of it... More humans inhabit the planet than ever before. What if this many humans inhabited the planet during the dark ages? What if the WMD existed back then? We are better off now than we were ages ago. We are evolving. We are becoming more spiritually evolved. That is not to say that heinous events in the realm of humans do not occur nowadays. They do, and will continue for a good while.
Do you have a vision of peace on earth? Any future begins with a vision. The more of us that have a vision of peace on earth, the more possible and eventually the more probable it is. So don't be a cynic. Have more vision than that. Peace on earth is not only possible, it is probable. If you cannot see that, have more vision. One day, compassion will reign and humanity will create heaven on earth. I firmly believe that, and I imagine it.
