Choosing the right path in your life

Just the other night I was dreaming that I was at a large hotel or convention centre. There were two large glass double doors leading outside the large room I was in. I went outside and there were a set of double steps separated by a hand rail down the centre. At the bottom of these stairs was the ocean, lapping the bottom steps. Other men were going down the stairs and swimming in the ocean. Not me, however, as I have my shoes on and am holding some papers and I don't want to risk wetting them. I'm outside the glass doors at the top of the stairs watching the men swimming and thinking how strange this set up is here.

We are all on our own spiritual path and I think a dream such as this tells us how to live it more fully. Dreams can help us grow on our spiritual path.

The dream is showing me that I would rather hold onto what I have already learnt than to put it down and experience the waters of life down the stairs. The other men are doing this. In all learning, the learning has to be experienced and you have to get wet so to speak. So with life you should participate more fully instead of just observing and holding onto your own philosophy. Life is not about philosophy, it's about being active and swimming in your own philosophy to see if it holds water and works in the world. You were sent there with a certain past philosophy based on past lives and now is your chance not to live by these only but to test them again in the waters of life, then to return to the other worlds and to share your experiences with others and help to build the living philosophy or record of wisdom obtained from all experiences to help others and inform the world of its own knowledge when it's needed. This record of all learning is often called the Akashic Records.

It's true that higher truths have little effect at the human level if the basic needs have not yet been met. It's like the old story of the philosopher in the boat saying to the owner of the boat that he has lost half his life by not learning truth, and learning philosophy. As the boat was sinking later during a wild storm the boat owner asked the philosopher if he could swim and he said no, so the boat owner told him, well you have lost all of your life. Philosophy for philosophy sake is not really the highest truth. The highest truths are practical truths. The human factor is important. It's very hard to explain truth to a starving man, or to one whose intellect is below normal. They can understand love however
