Does cutting your hair make it grow?

The average human hair grows at a rate anywhere from 1/4" to 1/2" each month and it's perfectly normal to shed 90-100 hair each and every day. All the while this is going on new hairs are coming back in to replace old hairs shed.

While cutting your hair helps it's aid in it's growth, it's all for a different reason. Being the average person with average growth it may seems as though your hair actually grown better after it's cut, there is a logical explanation for this occurrence.

The ends of your hair are often dry and brittle and tend to break off, many times people say there hair doesn't grow anymore. This is not true your hair continues to grow, but being that the hair at the end is dry and old it will break off, bit by bit on a daily basis leaving you to see no growth in the length. But the hair grows from the top out of the scalp. So cutting your hair helps keep the ends from breaking off thus allowing your hair to grow still at it's normal rate but now you'll see better results because of the lack of breakage.

Did you know that your hair is the last place that contains any traces of chemicals or drugs of any kind? Some medicines are very harmful and can dry out your hair more than normal so if your on medication you may want to consult your salon for a treatment that help in removing these medicines from your hair.

Drink plenty of water, not only is this good for your skin it's also helpful to your hair. As the new hair is in it's development stages under your scalp it's important to give it what it needs to develop properly so the new hairs coming in aren't dry and brittle to start out with.

Taking regular vitamin help in hair growth too, especially vitamin A. Since your hair & nails are mostly comprised of Keratin (Keratin is the type protein) Basically the same stuff you make Jello out of! Eats lots of Jello it's good for you and your hair & nails, and not fattening.

Eating lots of "carotene" (a source of vitamin A found in yellow vegetables) is important for making good quality "keratin" (the protein that aids in building hair and nails).

Avoid over conditioning your hair. This is also another cause of breakage to one's hair. Conditioners containing Protein over load your hair and end up making it brittle and breakage can occur as a result of too much protein conditioner.

Keeping your hair trimmed about 1/8" - 1/4" each month will help keep your hair healthy Strong and shiny. It's just something I have the habit of doing every time I color my hair it's trim time, once a month like clock work. So if you get in the habit of doing so your hair will be looking good in no time.
