I believe that the majority of the undocumented Hispanic immigrants have come into the United States for economic reasons. They leave their homes, their friends, and many family members to come here to get jobs. They are simply looking for that so-called "better way of life." When they first arrive here they aren't thinking about either immigrating or invading. They just want a job and an income.
However, thanks to various factors, the volume of undocumented Mexican workers and their families has gained invasion-like qualities. If the situation is not addressed very soon, I fear the invasion qualities will increase.
One way to begin to address the issue of illegal immigration, is to counter those factors that make it seem like an invasion, such as the language issue. U.S. citizens naturally feel insecure when the undeclared American language appears to be about to be replaced with a foreign tongue. Now, more than ever we need to lobby our representatives in Washington to declare American English as our official language.
Secondly, we need to dispense with these governmental hiring policies that seek to address "ethnic minorities." When a state or county agency posts a job opening that states "Hispanic citizens encouraged to apply" it sends a negative message that suggests reverse discrimination is allowed. Instead, any taxpayer supported agency should be required, by law, to limit hiring to "legal U.S. citizens" only.
The next invasion-like factor that is causing problems is the cost of delivering services to a population of illegal or undocumented visitors. If an undocumented immigrant comes to the hospital for medical attention they should be treated like an uninsured US citizen - and denied service unless they can demonstate financial ability to pay.
We need to close the loop holes that allow illegals to gain access to public services. More often than not the loop hole is a child that was born on US soil and is therefore a US citizen. Sorry, but in my opinion children that are born to undocumented immigrants that have entered this country illegally are as illegal as their parents. They should not be entitled to the protection of citizenship until their parents get on a track towards citizenship. Once the parents have come forward and gone on track toward citizenship, then the children that were born in the US would automatically gain citizenship. But, until then those children should not be allowed to attend our public schools or to receive public benefits such

Mexicans, as a whole, gathered one day and conspired to invade the US and overthrow everything "American." That's clearly
