Worries About China
I have never been to China, and I was stationed in Japan many years ago, but as much as I would like to see China, their Politics worry me.
I know a lot of Americans and foreigners travel to China every year now, but when I hear on the news that they up and executed their former head of the so-called Food and Drug agency..just like that!
I know the man was probably corrupt, like a lot of politicians, and he supposedly was taking payoffs. If we did that here in the US, we wouldn't have a lot of officials left.
If a foreigner gets in trouble in Japan, they might be open to negotiations on what to do with him, but when a government so easily execute someone for being bad?
What if..for some little infraction of their law, a foreign tourist gets in trouble with the local Chinese police? Who would want to risk the chances that they couldn't just pay a fine, but take the chance of being killed for whatever they were suppose to have done.
I agree something needs to be done about corruption, but if the man's execution was to make a good impression on the world... For my part it has sent a chilling message!
And I still remember the Tienanmen Square massacre by the army a few years ago.
