Whiskey sour is the godfather of all the sours. Moonshine on a crisp clear night with a big squeeze of lemon and a little sugar, on ice and made in its own jar is how I came to know this drink Breathe in that cool north Georgia mountain air as the fire rises in your belly. Don't attempt to leave the mountain now, just settle back and sip another. That's how it all started. We won't name names cause the revenuers are lurking around every bend. If it's hot and you're young it's ok to use sprite and lemonade to thin that drink down a little.
Traditional Whiskey Sour
2 ounces whiskey (American is the best for this drink)
11/2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon powdered sugar (regular works fine you just have to shake longer)
teaspoon egg white (that's only for the fancy folks)
Put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice or an old mayonnaise jar (clean)
Close it up and shake vigorously
Pour it into a sour or double old fashioned glass or just leave it in the jar
Put a lemon or orange slice with a maraschino cherry on top
Drink away.
Lynchburg Lemonade (a good hot weather version for fishing)
1 ounces Jack Daniels
1 ounce triple sec
2 ounces sweet and sour mix
Sprite
Put all the ingredients except the Sprite in a cocktail shaker with ice
Give it a quick shake and strain over ice into a highball glass
Fill with Sprite
Top with a slice of lemon for garnish
Good in a cold thermos or mayonnaise jar too.
