The United Nations outgrew its usefulness the day it was created.

Though many Americans are not aware of this, the United Nations was the brainchild of noted spy Alger Hiss. The idea of course, was to provide a means to justify that no conflict, regardless of the countries involved, should be undertaken - that peace (after World War II) needed to be maintained.

As more and more countries have been added to the General Assembly of the United Nations, it has become more and more clear that the United Nations functions as only a bureaucracy, similar to George Lucas' portrayal of it in the Star Wars movies.

Case in point:
The multi-billion dollar Oil-for-Food Exchange program from which the UN profited, (including then Secretary-General Kofi Annan and his son Kojo), by violating its own sanctions and trading with Saddam Hussein.

Blue gear for the "peacekeepers" to wear. This screams to would be bullies of the world, "I'm a target."

UNICEF. A fund designed to teach diplomats, and make the "evil white man" pay.

Appointing (not electing) Syria as head of the Anti-Terrorism Council, (think Hamas).

The United Nations is about as effective as a car without an engine.
