The day after the vacation is always the hardest. Many say that the hustle of buying the ticket and preparing for the trip is painful. It is time-consuming, but you do this in anticipation of spending a week or a set period of time living another life. You prepare for a brief moment of a life that does not require getting up to go to work, having dinner at a set time and and doing tasks that you need rather than want to do. Right now, I'm preparing for a trip to a place that holds a lot of emotional weight for me. I'm not worrying about the cost, customs or who I will meet on this trip. I worry about if I will get depressed because I'm leaving an area very close to me and that I must return to my life of getting up and going to work on a daily basis. A vacation involves preparing for a life that requires not looking at a clock to determine when to eat or sleep. The day after the vacation is the hardest because your life of leisure ends and you must return to your previous existence of eating, working and sleeping at predictable times. We hustle before the trip because we know in the end we prepare for a brief moment of relaxation and rest. The preparation is not the problem, it's the aftermath that hurts.
