Alli is a new product found as an Over the Counter supplement to a weight loss program; what makes this product different from the bundle of other self-proclaimed "Miracle Pills", is that its main ingredient, Orlistat, is the first one to ever be approved by the FDA.
The Alli program is not ideal for everyone; it is for people struggling with obesity problems, and one should always consult a doctor when considering taking any kind of aid for weight loss.
A few features make this product different from all others: to begin with, it is sold in a package that contains a companion guide, a calorie and fat guide, a healthy eating guide and a daily journal where one can record all the meals consumed during the day and the calorie and fat intake.
In addition, a consumer can find even more help online; one is prompted to enter the product registration number and give information such as height and body weight, and a customized plan is formulated and ready on the computer screen.
The Healthy Eating guide gives suggestions on how to make small changes in shopping, cooking and eating habits to help Alli work at its full potential.
The pharmaceutical company producing Alli, GlaxoSmithKline, is not advertising Orlistat as an ingredient that will solve any sort of weight issue; they make it clear that Alli will work when accompanied by a solid low fat diet and exercise. Orlistat is basically designed to diminish the amount of fat digested by our system.
The companion guide is a simple-to-read booklet that gives a few insights about how to follow this program and what side effects one can expect: the most common side effects are associated with consuming too much fat in a single meal, and they are gas, oily spottings and loose stools. (As described in the Alli Companion Guide).
Overall, the product seems to be effective and it does not lead the consumer to believe that one can achieve incredible results just by taking the pill alone.
The additional guidance provided by the website also makes this product more valuable, since it is an aid in rendering this over the counter pill more efficacious.
